Loucheiz Purifoy Arrested for Marijuana Possession
In the last several years there have been two things for certain about the Florida Gators football team:
1. They have recruited and coached some of the best players in the state at a very high level with great success.
2. They have struggled with having players arrested for marijuana possession.
Loucheiz Purifoy, just happens to be a player the fits into both of those categories. Early Sunday morning, a car Purifoy was a passenger in was pulled over for a traffic violation, and searched. Gainesville police officers found 2.5 grams of marijuana near the emergency brake. Purifoy was given a written arrest and charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams, which is a misdemeanor in the state of Florida. This marks the eighth time in the Muschamp era that a football player has been arrested for possession of marijuana.
Purifoy is set to appear in court on February 21st. This is his first arrest. Although Muschamp has worked hard in the past to eliminate these problems, even going as far as kicking arguably his best player off of the team before coaching his first game (Janoris Jenkins), the problems seem to persist. It is unknown how Muschamp will handle this situation, but it is known this is not Muschamp’s highly touted ‘Florida Way.’
