Reliving the 2008 Championship Season: The School Out West

Tim Tebow in the Soak at Doak

Gator fans know Doak Campbell Stadium well, and unfortunately most harbor negative memories about it. Before Zook's upset win in 2004, Florida State's stadium had been the home of Gator nightmares since the 80s. The two most notable nightmares being the 1994 Choak at Doak and the 1996 Late Hit Fiasco.

Although the Gators had ended their winless streak in Doak with Zook's last game in 2004 and a 7 point victory in 2006, the fear still remained for many Gator fans. The eventual 2006 National Champions needed a fourth quarter touchdown drive to slip out of Doak with a win despite being heavily favored and a lot more experienced. Also, the heavy rain would nullify Florida's speed advantage and make it more of a running game, which didn't favor the Gators as much as a passing game would. This game certainly had some Gators fans nervous.

To put an end to that nervousness, the Gators outgained the 'Noles 502-242 and outscored them 45-15 to continue on to play Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. Enjoy the highlights!
