Percy Harvin Will Play in BCS Championship Game

Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin was the third person off the Gators' plane Friday at the airport, and showed no effects of a sprained right ankle as he walked down the staircase onto the tarmac. A few moments later, Florida coach Urban Meyer stated unequivocally that Harvin will play in Thursday's national championship game against Oklahoma.

"Oh, he'll play," Meyer said. "He's good. He should practice tommorrow."

It will be Harvin's first official practice since spraining his ankle Nov. 29 against Florida State. The injury forced him to miss the SEC Championship Game against Alabama, but he has been wearing out the Florida training staff to get ready for next week's game.

Harvin, who leads the team with 16 touchdowns this year, even remained in Gainesville during the Christmas break to rehab.

Meyer said most of the Gators' gameplan was installed in Gainesville, except for the plays designed for Harvin. Now that Meyer is confident Harvin will play, Harvin's plays will be installed at practice this weekend.

His teammates are not concerned that a 40-day layoff between games will have much effect on Harvin.

"I think he'll be ready to go," quarterback Tim Tebow said while breaking into a smile.
