Game 1 Menu - Posted Tue, 08/05/2008 - 5:13pm

I have experience cooking for lots of people and if I am not mistaken I will be cooking for the Gatortailgating.com tailgates. We need to chip in money for these first few definately. I will not be here for the LSU game, I'll be watching Ohio State play Purdue in Ohio. There is a girl involved for the record. I need menu ideas and I need money collection ideas. If I get a menu together I don't mind buying the food up front and having people pay me back, but need promises. I am not gonna get screwed on this. We do need a big grill though.

Couple things to consider..

  1. The game is at 12:30, so we'll want to be drunk by 8 or 9 and eating by 10.... does this mean breakfast-ish food?
  2.  We need a tally of who all is going to show up
  3. We need to find out who has any supplies (grills, etc)

Great news guys.

1. We've got a huge grill. If anything, it may be too big if you know what I mean. It's a grill on a trailer that I'll bring to the games that we decide to cook for everyone, if we dot do it every game....

 2. Donations - I'll donate enough to cover food for 4 or 5 people, because I know me and some of my friends and family will all be there eating. They just havent figured out how to turn a computer on yet, so they won't be in these forums for a LONG time....

3. Food - We can do a brunch for the first game. A lot of us will have camped out the night before the hawaii game, so we'll be good and ready to eat by 9 or 10 am. Im thinking we could do a ham or some sausage links something? Someone could bring a breakfast Casserole too. If we didnt want to do breakfast food, I've really never said no to ribs at any time during the day, but it's not a typical brunch food....

Not only is everyone invited to the tailgate, but they're also invited to camp out with us too. We usually go park about 9 or 10, set up all the gear, and then go down to mid-town to bar-hop until the early morning hours. After that, we go back to the tailgating / camp site and sleep till about 7 and are ready to tailgate till kickoff. It makes for a prety fun weekend...

Ham and Sausage links I have cast iron pans that I could cook eggs on. I could even make eggs benedicts. You guys should come drink at Common Grounds. I know its downtown and not mid town, but the band I manage is releasing a CD that night there and there will be free beer.

Can you cook eggs in a pot on a smoker? 'cause that's what this grill is....a HUGE Smoker.

with fire or coals, i can do anything man. I can bake bread. I would prefer that nobody asks me to do this, but I'm just saying.

I'm thinking Bloody Marys with a few egg caseroles, that I make on the grill. I can make these things on site as need on the grill. Provided we have enough wood/coals

Hey guys I posted a thread with some questions for anyone that can help out.

I just saw this thread and thought I would let you know what we had to finally do to get some control over our events.  We started with about 15-20 people in 02 and it has grown to about 100-150 at away games now.  I use eventbrite and set up a ticket order for each game we do. What's great is it gives you a roster and you can collect money via paypal or google checkout.

Hope this helps.
