ESPN: Pouncey Plans to Deny Allegations

Maurkice Pouncey

According to ESPN, Former Gator Maurkice Pouncey plans to deny the allegations today in a statement regarding receiving a payment of $100,000 from an NFL Agent's representative. The Pouncey Family has turned in phone bills, credit card statements, as well as bank deposit records that show no large deposits being made prior to the draft to help with the investigation.

The anonymous letter that was sent to Florida that started the internal investigation and the reporting of the possible violation to the NCAA raises a question mark as well.

Two sources briefed on the anonymous letter sent to Florida told ESPN's Joe Schad that it was postmarked in Canada. Two sources also told Schad that the letter was accompanied by photographic evidence of an alleged runner for an agent in social situations with Pouncey and his brother Mike, including at two awards shows.

Postmarked in Canada? I have to say that I concur with the thoughts of The Alligator Army in that Canada is not exactly a normal location for NFL agents. It is very interesting for the package to be from such an odd location.

For Gator Nation, this could get a lot worse or a lot better, and quickly. According to the source that sent the letter, photographic evidence showed both Maurkice and Mike with the agent's representative. If that's true and Mike is involved as well as having lied (after the statement is released today) to the NCAA, Florida could be forced to vacate it's Sugar Bowl victory as well as lose their starting Offensive Center for 2010. It will also leave a large black eye on the program, even if Meyer and his staff weren't aware of the situation.

If everything comes out that there was no wrongdoing by the Pouncey family and the football program, the program will look that much cleaner that it started the investigation internally, reported the possible violation to the NCAA, and then found itself clean in the midst of the investigation. That would show a major difference between the Gators' handling of business versus a major cover-up like in Southern California.

Don't get your hopes up though, Gators. As the old saying goes, if there's smoke there's usually a fire somewhere.

Didn't their dad have his arm

Didn't their dad have his arm get run over by a train? I wonder if the medical bills piled up?

 Why couldn't the knucklehead

Why couldn't the knucklehead have waited just one more game?

Slimey agents and greedy players are not a combination the NCAA looks favorably upon.

It was the leg of his dad

It was the leg of his dad that got ran over by a train.

Anyway, let's not jump to conclusions here. He may be innocent.

My question is that if you know you're going to be rich, can't you take out a loan from the bank and get credit? Especially if you have an injury insurance policy.

Something about this doesn't pass the "sniff" test

Actually, it's funny you

Actually, it's funny you mentioned that Mike. That's exactly what he said he did. Borrowed money before he got drafted. That's how he supposedly got his cadillac...

"Gator born, Gator bred, and when I die I'll be Gator dead"

And why did he supposedly

And why did he supposedly take this money in between the SEC Championship game and the Sugar Bowl? It's a small amount of time.. less than a month. You think he'd be able to wait that long.

I agree with coolio... this doesn't smell right

Now wait just a dog gone

Now wait just a dog gone minute.  Doesn't smell right?  I hope you are not suggesting...it's Phillip Fulmer and George Bush's fault.

If this happened, the worst thing that can happen for him and especially UF is that he's denying it.

Dummio, when you go to a bank they make you sign for it.  When you take a bag of cash, no signature needed.  The agent didn't give a crap about UF and neither did Pouncey.  It will likely prove out that his brother is riding dirty too.

I also hear bro is going to be at Media Days.  Now here's the deal, has this agent represented any other gators?  How many?  How deep does this go and will UF have sanctions and have to forfeit the Cincy game.

I'll say again about this year as I did about last year which proved correct...UF will not be as good as they were last year.  Now the stone in Meyers shoe is Eddie Gran at Free Shoes U.  I think that may be the battle to watch over the next few years......as if Meyer stays with a team that's not on top.

Btw Mike, The Georgia helmet

Btw Mike, The Georgia helmet art clip is a pretty obvious attempt to display that Georgia is actually your personal main rival.  Good try.

Oh wait, that was Rusty.  I

Oh wait, that was Rusty.  I guess he used the helmet clip and you got the text clip.

Georgia is my main rival.

Georgia is my main rival. Tennessee is just another team we beat on an annual basis. :)

As for the sanctions, keep dreaming. It is an internal investigated self-reported to the NCAA, unlike USC who covered it up. Quit dreaming of the day that UT will finally have the chance to go to a better bowl than Florida. :)

You say we'll be worse than last year.....Are you kidding?!? We lost one game! Don't act like you're a psychic! We are rebuilding/reloading this year and I agree we'll lose more than one game. That isn't hard to figure out looking at the schedule! Tennessee in Knoxville, Alabama in T-town, FSU in Tally, probable SEC Championship game, and you think youre brilliant cause you're saying we'll take a step back this year?

Everyone knows that we'll be an underdog a time or two this season. Why don't you take a real man's game and guess what UT's record will be this season? Now that will be funny...

"Gator born, Gator bred, and when I die I'll be Gator dead"

       I'll take that wager

I'll take that wager Rusty, I Got the vols goin 7-5 and thats generous, at heart I'm thinkin 6-6!  Quote me, hold me to it in December, 7-5.

He said he would rather be a "has been than a never had been till the last 20 years forward" That is so stupid. Pretend if you wish as if you dont read my post voluser, as I said you would trade places with Florida in a heartbeat and you know it! The rich legacy of having nattys back in the depression era and post WWII, sure thats way better than 2 BCS Championships in the last 3 years,or 3 in the last 15 years. lol

Now "Hears the deal" Ga. is our rival, they will be the no.1 rival forever. Tennessee is just that - there tennessee and you are the only one on here who cares about them. Tell me, even in Neyland, will you be so bold to say that you might beat the Sophomore Gators this year?  I will - Ya Wont!!!   Trust, even if we could only win 1 game all year 90% of all Gator fans, if not more would say "Just Beat Georgia"

kiss my gator tail
