2009 Gator Class on Campus & Is Percy Sick Again?

Andre DeBose signing with UF

As Summer B classes begin at the University of Florida, so has the college life for the 2009 incoming freshman class of the football team. What has become an almost annual tradition for Meyer's Gators, every incoming freshman seems to be qualified academically and is ready to begin the summer workouts with Mickey Marotti. The only Gator signees unable to qualify academically since Meyer arrived in 2005 were Brian Ellis (2005) and Dee Finley (2008). Dee Finley has since attended prep school and is included in the 2009 class.

As these new Gators arrive on campus, the coaching staff will look to see which of these players can contribute this year and which will be better left to redshirt. The biggest star of the class, Andre Debose, will be a the biggest focus on seeing if they can use him to replace Percy Harvin this season.

It has been said that DeBose needs to add some weight to his frame in order to compete at the collegiate level, but it is unknown yet if he will be joining the famed breakfast club along with Chris Rainey and others targeted for weight gain.

Percy Harvin Sick Again?

Speaking of a Percy Harvin replacement, The Minnesota Vikings may need one a couple times this football season if the trend continues. Harvin, who was already held out of the first mini-camp due to illness back in May, was sent home from the NFL's three-day synposium due to being sick once again.

The Synposium is a three-day NFL seminar-like event that helps first-year NFL players cope with the stress of being a professional football player.

In May, when Harvin was hospitalized for extreme dehydration, there were some "I told you so's" floating around the blogs about Harvin's seemingly regular injuries and illnessess throughout his career. This news will do nothing more than fan that flame again.

As Gator fans are well aware, the talent of Percy Harvin is almost unmatchable by any other football player in the nation. But, if he isn't on the field when needed, his talent won't help the team at all.

Here's to hoping for another quick recovery and some long-term health.
